Can I have phone consultation?
If you are suitable for treatment, a The Juliet medical secretary will call you to help arrange your initial consultation and they are trained to answer your questions. Initial consultations are normally in person. We also have a questionnaire on our website that assesses if you would be appropriate for the treatment.
How much does it cost?
The Complete treatment package costs £1995. Financial packages available subject to status.
Can I get this through medical insurance or NHS?
Not currently on the NHS, they will pilot the service in selected areas before offering this nationwide. Some medical insurance companies offer this dependent on your policy.
Where is it offered?

How confident can I be that this is safe?
There are a number of published clinical trials showing The Juliet’s effectiveness and safety record. These are available to you upon request. The Juliet is an erbium laser which has an excellent safety profile and the treatment has been available since 2009. Since then over 5 million patients have been successfully treated worldwide with no major side effects.
Is the treatment uncomfortable?
The treatment is well tolerated and no need for anaesthesia. You may experience a gentle warming sensation.
How soon after childbirth can I have treatment?
Three months post childbirth, please contact one of our gynaecology consultants who can assess your suitability
What are the contraindications?
Majority of women are fine to receive The Juliet treatment. You would need an up to date cervical smear, provide a negative pregnancy test and confirm you are not trying to conceive. You cannot have this treatment during your menstrual cycle.

How many treatments are necessary?
In most cases, satisfactory results can be obtained after the first session, with no need for further treatments. Depending on the severity of the symptoms however, a second treatment may be recommended after few months.
Are there any undesirable side effects?
No medical treatment is completely risk-free. Normally, this laser treatment has minimal complications. Potential side-effects can include an increase in temperature and febrile response in the first day following treatment and/or odorless vaginal secretions. These effects are temporary and usually disappear within one or two days
Will this enable me to come off my hormone replacement therapy?
Your consultant will check how successful the treatment has been and analyse all the considerations that went into your HRT treatment plan to determine whether to reduce or conclude previous therapies.
I’ve tried pelvic floor exercises and hasn’t worked, will The Juliet be suitable?

Which women can undergo a The Juliet laser treatment?
In general, any women experiencing these symptoms and looking for a fast, non-surgical and discreet procedure can undergo a The Juliet treatment. Before performing the treatment, your doctor will firstly rule out the presence of local or systemic diseases.
Can I return to work immediately after treatment?
Yes, it is recommended to wear a sanitary towel following the procedure but there are very few side effects.
When will I see improvements?
Depending on your symptoms, results can be seen in as little as 24 hours.
What do patients experience the days following the treatment?
You will be able to leave the clinic once your treatment is completed and can immediately resume a relatively normal lifestyle.
We do recommend you avoid strenuous exercise, hot tubs and sexual activity for 72 hours.
Most patients experience minimal side effects and your Clinician will advise you on what to expect following your individualised treatment.
It is not uncommon to experience a watery. pink discharge, feeling of increased sensitivity and a sensation of swelling or bruising within the vagina for a few days after treatment.
You will be advised who to contact if you have any concerns and our Clinical team will call you a couple of days after the treatment to ensure you are well.
I’ve had a tape operation for SUI and still have symptoms, can I be treated?
